Learning Targets: 1) I can solve problems like a scientist. 2) I can recognize science in my life.
Assignments: 1) Cut out 9 tables of content (one for each science unit this year). Tape 3 tables of content on each of pages 1,2, and 3 in your journal. 2) Tape " Why Interactive Journals (IJ)?" and Rubric onto JP4 (journal page 4) 3) JP5 is your title page for "How Science Works" unit - decorate and make it your own. Let your personality and your likes show through. Use lots of color and make the title stand out. 4) Aha! Connections goes on JP6-7 like a center spread in a magazine. It is really just a bubble map without circles and lines. See picture on right - Essential Question goes in the center. Lesson 1 "bubble" is Science Safety; Lesson 2 "bubble" is "Science is like a Puzzle" or "Science is Problem Solving" or whatever you think the main idea of each lesson was. We will keep adding to this Aha! Connections. 5) JP 8 and 9 are for our Scientific Summer stories and our puzzles. 6) Be sure to number all journal pages to the end - numbers go in the bottom outside corners. Be careful! 7) Make sure you fill in your first table of content with unit name and first 9 pages. Be sure pages 8 and 9 have titles and dates. Homework: 1) Complete Journal (see assignment directions above) 2) Complete "Getting to Know You" WS (WS = worksheet) P.S. Tomorrow is Picture Day! All students need to go through the line for a picture regardless of whether they are purchasing pictures. Fall pictures go in the Yearbook, so look spiffy!!!
